Clarinet

Milan Polák was born in 1967 in Hodonín. He studied at the Conservatory in Brno, and in 1991 he finished his studies at the Janacek Academy of Musical Arts in Brno.

He was a member of the State philharmonic orchestra in Brno, and the orchestra of the National theatre in Bratislava, and since 1992 he has been a member of the Prague Chamber Orchestra. With this orchestra he played as a soloist at concerts in Germany, Spain, Libanon and Turkey.

In the year 1995 he gave the european premiere of Concert for clarinet and orchestra composed by Robert Livingston Aldridge. For the Czech Radio he recorded the piece Clarinettino composed by Ondrej Kukal. As a soloist he played with these orchestras: Czech Chamber Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in Teplice, and Philharmonic Orchestra of Bohuslav Martinů in Zlín.

He is a member of the international orchestra Solistes Europeéns de Luxembourg.

Since 1998 he has been a teacher at the Conservatory in Prague. Since 2002 he has been a teacher at the Janacek Academy of Musical Arts in Brno.
