Bass Clarinet

Graduated in clarinet in 2004 at the “A. Corelli ”of Messina, he continued studying Clarinet with Calogero Palermo and Bass Clarinet with Diego Baroni. He played with some important orchestras like Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Les Dissonances, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, working with important conductors such as G. Pretre, M.W. Chung, J.E. Gardiner, D. Gatti, S. Bychkov and K. Petrenko. His musical activity has permitted him to perform in various countries of the world, playing in the most important concert halls (Berlin Philharmonie, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Musikverein of Vienna, Philharmonie of Paris, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Tonhalle of Zurich, KKL of Lucerne, Philharmonie Gasteig of Munich, Auditorium of Zaragoza, National Center of Performing Arts of Beijing, and others). Alongside the orchestral one, he also carries out an intense chamber music activity with various ensemble and soloists such as Calogero Palermo, Gabriele Mirabassi, the Davabugi Clarinet Quartet and the Camerata Strumentale Eptafonè, with which he carries out an interesting project on the Histoire du Soldat by I. Stravinskij in the role of musician and actor. He recently edited (and later performed) the Sonata op.167 by C. Saint-Saëns, in the version for bass clarinet and string quintet by Giuseppe Saggio. He is also involved in the didactic field, holding several masterclasses of instrumental improvement. In 2006 he graduated from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Ferrara. From 2008 to 2013 he was Bass Clarinet of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice and since then he has held the same role at the RAI National Symphony Orchestra based in Turin. Salvatore plays Buffet Crampon clarinets model "Divine" and bass clarinet "Tosca".
